Scour Characteristics and Equilibrium Scour Depth Prediction around a Submarine Piggyback Pipeline

Local scour around a submarine piggyback pipeline in combined waves and current is investigated experimentally. Based on the experimental results, evolution morphology are firstly analyzed. Then, comparison with equilibrium depth Seq between present data predicted results conducted. After that, correlation dimensionless timescale T* maximum Shields parameter ?cw investigated, formula obtained to describe variation trend for different gap ratios G/D. Furthermore, parametric study carried out effects of Reynolds number Red Seq, respectively. The indicate that below increases when ratio G/D from 0 0.1, it gradually decreases > 0.1. For given KC, increase velocities Ucw. In addition, Ucw fixed, higher KC greater Seq. closely related both tend result current.
